Every year in Columbia, the Marines sponsor a "Mud Run" in which teams of 4 run 4.2 miles through all sorts of different obstacles primarily focussing on mud (hence the name...) The Greater Columbia Marine Foundation which is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization sponsors the event annually to raise money to support Marines and their families from the Columbia area who have been wounded or killed while serving on active duty. Profits from the race are also used to support several local college scholarships named after Marines killed serving their country and local events which promote the Marine Corps in the community.
Needless to say, the cause is most certainly a noble one, so it was an honor to participate again this year! We finished in less than an hour, which is pretty good - the winning team finished in just over 35 minutes (yikes!) We finished 319 out of 1,727 teams (top 20% !!!) so we feel pretty good about our team's performance ;) Enjoy the photos - we're already stoked for next year!
Coming over the last mud hill.
Finish...very muddy
The "team" - Dan, Bryan, DJ & Mike - The VillageChurch team!
That is a lot of teams! You guys did great!!
ReplyDeleteSo fun. I've always wanted to do a mud run. Not the kind where you run in Seattle when its raining, but the organized kind. What a good cause.
